ChatGPT is OpenAI’s conversational application for writing, explaining code, searching the web, and working with uploaded files. Available tools can include data analysis, image creation, and voice. Access depends on your plan, location, and current rollout. The model picker and in-product limit notices are more useful than an old fixed list of included models.
Turn a file into a checked result
Upload a document or spreadsheet and state the task, relevant columns, and desired format. For a sales summary, ask ChatGPT to show the calculations behind each total and flag missing records. Compare a sample of its output with the original before using the full result. For web research, open the sources behind material claims. A fluent answer or generated chart is not verification of the underlying data.
Free use and Plus
The Free tier includes chat and access to several tools. Uploads, image generation, data analysis, and other functions have their own limits. When a limit is reached, ChatGPT shows the applicable wait or upgrade information. Free access does not promise unlimited use of every tool.
Plus costs $20 per month and provides broader access and higher allowances, with limits still applying. Other individual and organizational plans have different terms. ChatGPT subscriptions and the OpenAI API use separate billing systems. Paying for Plus does not include usage billed to an API account. Check each product’s billing settings before connecting an application or estimating ongoing costs.
