Claude Code

Claude Code is Anthropic’s coding agent for reading project files, editing code, and running commands. It is available through the terminal, IDE integrations, desktop, and browser. It fits tasks such as tracing a bug across files, adding a bounded feature, or explaining an unfamiliar repository. Official overview.

Start with a reviewable task

Follow the official installation path for your platform and sign in through an eligible account or supported provider. Open a project you control, ask the agent to inspect the relevant files, and specify the change and the checks it must run. Review the diff and command results before merging or deploying.

The agent needs the project’s dependencies and permission to run relevant tools. Reading a repository does not guarantee that every generated change is correct. Keep a Git checkpoint and verify behavior with the project’s own checks.

Access and costs

The current Claude pricing page includes Claude Code in Pro and Max, while Free does not include it. Pro costs $20 with monthly billing, or $200 paid annually, before applicable taxes. Subscription usage limits apply.

Console API access and supported cloud-provider access have their own billing. The cost guide distinguishes subscription allowances, API token charges, and optional usage credits. Check the account used for authentication before estimating cost. Free Claude chat access does not establish free Claude Code use.

The repository license notice reserves Anthropic’s rights and refers to its commercial terms. A public repository is not an open-source license for this product.

Checked against official sources on October 23, 2026. This listing does not report a hands-on performance test.
