Devin Desktop is the current name of the Windsurf editor. Cognition’s transition FAQ dates the rename to June 2, 2026. It retains the editor, extensions and keybindings while putting agent management in the main workspace. Existing users can consult our Windsurf migration reference.
Start with one repository
Use the official installation guide, sign in and open a project. Ask for one bounded change, inspect the patch and run that project’s checks. The product introduction distinguishes the editor and agent workspace; confirm whether a task will run locally or in the cloud before providing files and credentials. A local editor does not imply that model inference runs on your machine.
Free access and subscriptions
The current pricing page lists Free with a light agent quota and limited models, Pro at $20 per month and Max at $200 per month. Cloud access and extra usage have their own plan conditions. Unlimited tab completion does not mean unlimited agent work. Check the account’s quota and additional-usage controls before starting a long task.
The migration FAQ says the rename itself does not change an existing Windsurf plan’s price. Compare your actual account terms with current offers before switching.
