Windsurf is now the former name of Devin Desktop. The official transition FAQ dates the change to June 2, 2026 and describes continuity of the editor, extensions, and existing work. This page preserves the old name for readers following older links. It should not be interpreted as a separate new Windsurf subscription or as a shutdown of the editor.

Workflow
Existing users should follow the Devin Desktop migration guidance and check imported settings, project rules, and extensions in a real project. New users should start with the current Devin Desktop documentation. Review an agent’s patch and run project checks before accepting a change. JetBrains has a different boundary: the legacy local Windsurf plugin is in maintenance mode, Cascade there is being deprecated, and the remote-development plugin is no longer maintained. Its guide recommends Devin over ACP instead.
Costs and limits
Current Devin pricing, checked on October 23, 2026, has a Free plan with a limited agent quota, Pro at $20 per month, and Max at $200. Teams has an $80 monthly base plus $40 per full developer seat. These current offers should not overwrite the terms of an existing Windsurf account. The migration FAQ says existing plans continue without a price change from the rename itself. Model availability, extra usage, and cloud access depend on the applicable plan. Confirm your account terms before budgeting a migration.
