Claude Duet is Anthropic’s proactive personal agent, announced on October 21, 2026. It uses connected apps and a cloud computer to prepare work and notify you when something needs attention. It is a separate experience from the Claude assistant. Official announcement.
Access and cost
This is a research preview for US Pro and Max subscribers who receive a waitlist invitation. Team and Enterprise are not included yet. Paying for a subscription does not guarantee immediate access. Start at the official product page, join with the email on your Claude account, and follow the invitation’s setup steps.
The preview is included in those plans, but shares Claude usage limits. Background monitoring also consumes allowance. It is not a free, unlimited agent. The announcement lists iOS, Android and web access. Eligibility and usage details.
A first task you can review
After admission, connect only the apps needed for a small trial. Ask for a meeting brief from one calendar event and its related documents, with source links and a draft follow-up. Review the sources and draft before authorizing a message. This is a suggested acceptance task, not a workflow we ran.
Duet carries over Claude memory, skills and connections. Its cloud computer can keep working while your device is off. Anthropic says it requests approval before sending messages, paying, signing or deleting. Review each proposed action. Disconnecting an app stops future access, but does not erase information already stored in memory.
Preview limitations
The agent can misread urgency or a conversation. Account checks happen periodically, so it can miss intervening events. Do not use it as an emergency monitor. Check original material before acting on a brief. This listing was checked against official sources on October 23, 2026; we did not obtain preview access or test a live task.
